We play a variety of music from Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, David Sanborn, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Classic Jazz, R&B and Blues depending on the music that fits your occasion.
 
Most importantly, we are always complemented on our music being "energetic yet never loud" for events.   We understand how to make great music and create an electric atmosphere without making the music too loud.   We know how to allow your friends to talk and have great conversations with great music in the background.
 
Cocktail Sax is an elegant band playing in the Indianapolis area creating special memorable events.  We play a variety of Corporate Events and Reception, Wedding Reception, Private Parties, Jazz and Music Festivals, and local jazz restaurant/clubs.   As an Indianapolis Jazz Band, our great musicians consist of a sax player, keyboards, drums and jazz bass enhance your event to add a s
ophisticated and stylish atmosphere.

We specialize in jazz and play popular variety songs with musical styles from big band, swing, latin, waltz, love songs, and smooth jazz sounds. The band is composed of saxophones, keyboard, bass and drums with optional male or female vocals as the need demands.  (See Better than a Jazz Trio below)

Better than a Jazz Trio - The advantage of Four instead of a Trio!

 
Often, people will hire a trio of musicians ... which leave one instrument to create the melody line of all the music.  While this is nice for a while, a steady hour or longer will get boring and tedious on the ears.  
 
The advantage of a four piece band of musicians is that you alternate the melody lines between more instruments which make the music much more interesting and appealing to the listener.
 
For events lasting more than one hour, the difference is very apparent to the people at the event and the atmosphere can be much more exciting and pleasant with a four piece group.

On June 18, 2011 Cocktail Sax was a vendor for the Haun/Anderson wedding and reception at the Efroymson Wedding Garden and Hulman Riverhouse. This was a unique event as the bride and groom desired to have the ceremony outdoors as normal but an extended cocktail hour in the Knot Gardens. Your team arrived on time and was very patient as bad weather was potentially on its way. As all vendors know, deciding to move forward with a ceremony outside or move it inside based on a chance of rain can be a very tough decision for clients. Your team consistently helped with weather updates, continued to check in with me for updates, helped keep the bridal party informed and calm, and patiently waited to set up their equipment where the bride and groom desired for it to be set up. The decision went back and forth minutes before the ceremony was to begin. It began to sprinkle and the decision was made to move forward with hosting the ceremony outdoors. Your group was set and ready! Plus, no complaints about having to play in the rain! As the rain didn’t let up, the cocktail hour was moved indoors. Your team once again patiently and quickly rolled with the punches and moved all their equipment inside. As we moved the final tables and linens inside a few guests mentioned to me how impressed they were that our team and your team so quickly transitioned from the Knot Gardens to the Hulman Riverhouse. Rain and all, it was a great experience over all as guests entered the reception happy! Thank you so much for all you do! We look forward to having you out again soon."
